What’s your favorite movie?

but there are too many good movies and too many good books and too many good albums and too many good TV shows and too much good art and too many good video games and too many good songs and too many good poems and then I realize how much more there is I haven’t even seen or read or played or heard and I get a little sad because there’s no way I’ll ever be able to organize on paper all of the amazing things I’ve experienced or will experience.

I’ve awoken the Tumblr feminists from their slumber. Please just ignore the scary man attacking your movies and taking your voting.

This is just going by the trailers, but it seems like that movie gives the message that being a girl is some kind of handicap you have to overcome in order to do anything cool. It seems like Pixar was going for ‘Girls can have adventures, too’, but in this day and age, can’t it just be ‘Girls can have adventures’?

Here is a movie that is miles better than the sum of its parts. A movie that budgeted time incredibly well between more characters than most people would know what to do with. Well-written, well-acted, never boring, funny, action-packed, and all around likeable. It’s the kind of movie that could have felt hacked together, rushed, and dumbed down, but it gracefully avoids all of these things. I tip my invisible hat to Mr. Whedon for lovingly crafting one of the best superhero movies I’ve ever seen.

There’s way more than what I’ve listed here to find. Try typing in your favorite band or director or actor or actress or drug or writer or artist or website or movie or genre, and you just might find out that I also like the cool things you like. Who does all this benefit? Me, sort of. It’s as close to mapping out my brain as I’ll ever get. And maybe you, if you’re looking for the right things. Maybe you’ll be reminded of how much you love Lou Reed, or how cool Spongebob is. Maybe you just took a handful of shrooms and wanna see something trippy. Who knows?

This is a song that I wrote called ‘Aisles’.

It’s nowhere near finished, and the bridge needs a lot of work, but I’m getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and for some stupid reason I’m terrified of dying (I’m usually quite worried about that even on a normal day), and I’d hate to die without getting any of the songs I’ve written out of my head. If anyone enjoys it at all, I might record more crap, and if not, at least my mind will be at ease.
